Welcome to the Sea NG Tariff Estimator

This tool estimates a tariff (US$/mmbtu) to ship compressed natural gas based on delivered volume, distance and general loading and discharge conditions.

The tool assumes the gas supply available for shipment is pipeline quality and that it is loaded and discharged on a continuous basis over a 15-year project life.

STEP 1: Enter Project Specifics

Project Specifics

The tariff estimator has upper limits for both volume and distance. Distances and volume exceeding these limits may be economically viable but are beyond the scope of this online tool. Please contact us for further information.

CHOOSE UNITS
Volume for continuous delivery: [ i ]
The tariff estimator assumes the desired volume of gas will be delivered on a continuous basis similar to the operation of a pipeline. This tool will suggest a project configuration that will enable continuous loading and discharging of gas to create a seamless and secure gas transportation service.

Distance to delivery point: [ i ]

Distance is one of the key components in the determination of ship size and number in the fleet. Actual ship size and fleet configurations for projects may vary due to project-specific conditions. Calculate your project distance with Netpas or Google Earth.

STEP 2: Choose a Loading Terminal

Loading Facility

Loading systems for Sea NG ships can be located either onshore or offshore using a variety of industry standard solutions. Please consult our loading section for more information on the range of loading options.

ONSHORE: JETTY / PIER [ i ]

Selecting the jetty/pier option assumes pipeline quality gas is compressed and loaded directly onto Sea NG ships through loading arms on the jetty. The tariff estimate assumes the existence of a jetty/pier structure and that the loading equipment would be a modification to that structure. Capital costs used in the estimate for onshore facilities are based on a generic cost estimate for compression equipment and related facilities. Please contact us for further information.

OFFSHORE: LOADING BUOY [ i ]

Offshore loading may be preferable in specific situations, such as where port conditions limit access. This option assumes that pipeline quality gas is compressed onshore and delivered via a short subsea pipeline to an offshore loading buoy. The buoy system used for the estimate assumes moderate water depths and sea conditions. Deep-water offshore loading by buoy is also viable but the configurations and costs can vary significantly and therefore are not readily subject to estimation by this tariff estimator tool. Please contact us for further information.

STEP 3: Choose a Discharge Terminal

Discharge Facilities

The discharge systems for Sea NG ships can be located either onshore or offshore using a variety of industry standard solutions. Please consult our discharge section for more information on the range of options.

ONSHORE: JETTY / PIER [ i ]

The jetty/pier option assumes that the gas is unloaded from the ship through unloading arms on the jetty/pier and decompressed for delivery to the customer. The tariff estimate assumes the existence of a jetty/pier structure and that the unloading equipment would be a modification to that structure. Capital costs used in the estimate for onshore facilities are based on a generic cost estimate for decompression equipment and related facilities. Please contact us for further information.

OFFSHORE: DISCHARGE BUOY [ i ]

Offshore discharging may be preferable in specific situations, such as where port conditions limit access. This option assumes that gas from the ship is decompressed and delivered via low pressure pipeline to shore. The buoy system used for the estimate assumes moderate water depths and sea conditions. Please contact us for further information.

3. ESTIMATED PROJECT TARIFF [ i ]
The Estimated Project Tariff covers the operating costs associated with facilities and shipping, amortization of capital costs over a 15 year project life and provides a return to equal to the inputted WACC.
Shipping Tariff: [ i ]
The Estimated Shipping Tariff covers only the operating costs associated with the Sea NG fleet and fully amortizes the capital costs of the fleet over a 15 year project life and provides a rate of return to the ship owners equal to the inputted WACC. For further clarification, please contact us.

The Estimated Facilities Tariff covers only the operating costs associated with the loading/discharging facilities selected, amortization of capital costs over a 15 year project life and provides a rate of return equal to the inputted WACC. For further clarification, please contact us

[1] The Tariff Estimator offers only a sample of possible project configurations based on desired inputs. The tool is designed to provide initial estimates of the cost of shipping gas by marine CNG for prospective projects. Specific project characteristics may change costs significantly. Any taxes and administrative fees that might be levied by countries along the project route are not considered by the Tariff Estimator.

[2] Opportunities may exist for project optimization. The Tariff Estimator assumes continuous loading and unloading. Depending on project circumstances, it is possible to have interruptible loading and/or unloading which may optimize the Sea NG project configuration.

[3] Tariff Estimator assumes full amortization of all capital over a 15-year project life.

Please contact us for further information related to these assumptions.
