Eni works up CNG solution

Italy’s Eni has launched pre-front-end engineering and design for a compressed natural gas solution for exporting stranded resources.
Stefano Rossini, of the company’s exploration and production division, said the approach could monetise gas fields of 100 billion to 3.5 trillion cubic feet.
He told the World Gas Congress in Doha that the shipping portion is limited to distances of no more than 3000 kilometres.
Rossini said the project’s main focus now is on reducing the ship weight and simplifying the loading process.
He also said Eni has reached the full-FEED stage on proprietary gas-to-liquids technology in a joint project with IFP Energies Novelles and Axens.
