Sea NG Advantages
Advantages in comparison to subsea pipelines:
- Ships cannot be damaged from seismic activity or other seabed disturbances (e.g. mudslides).
- Capital cost is not related to water depth or bottom topography.
- Sea NG’s ships can be redeployed and the compression facilities can be barge mounted for total asset mobility.
- Sea NG gas shipping solutions are scaleable, meaning that the capacity can grow with the gas demand by providing incremental ships. Pre-investment in a fixed forecast capacity is not necessary. Projects can start small and grow easily.
Advantages in comparison to LNG:
- No cryogenic processes are needed which reduces cost and complexity.
- Compression facilities are much less expensive and simpler than liquefaction facilities.
- Local permitting for CNG is less onerous because the footprint is much smaller, onshore gas storage is not required, and ships can be loaded and unloaded at a remote buoy.
